Do you have a special family recipe that's been handed down for generations?
In the Roberts family {my madden name},
our recipe is as simple as TACOS.
My dad was born and raised in Sun Valley, CA.
{It's now considered THE HOOD}
None the less,
my Grandma was FAMOUS in town for her tacos,
and they were named "Sun Valley" tacos.
My mom made them for us when we were little,
and I have carried on the recipe to my little family.
Want to know the recipe?
It's embarrassingly simple.
So simple,
that it may in fact be your recipe too.
{I always say that my grandma sprinkled them with LOVE}
Sun Valley Tacos
1 lb ground beef {I substitute ground turkey too}
WAIT FOR IT....
Lawry's Seasoning TACO packet
corn tortillas
grated cheese
shredded lettuce
tomatoes
oil
canned refried beans {I prefer the spicy ones}
1.
brown ground beef. add seasoning packet, and 2/3 c water. simmer.
2.
warm beans on stove
3.
heat oil in a small skillet. Place one corn tortilla in hot oil and let cook. Flip, and then fold in half until your tortilla shell is crisp.
4.
Add meat and the fixings to your shell and ENJOY.
And when you spend 30 minutes in the kitchen,
this is what your living space looks like while cooking with a toddler...
Landyn has TRASHED our couch...don't judge!
Those tacos look amazing!
ReplyDeleteWere you trying to make me drool? You succeeded!
ReplyDeleteSounds yum to me!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? My house looks like that often. Probably worse! =)
Hugs girl!
You know I'd never judge you! That TOTALLY looks like my house - minus the amazing tacos :D I'll definitely be giving those bad boys a try!
ReplyDeleteYUM- i need to make tacos now :)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wanting mexican. Love this recipe and I may try it lets say... tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteokay now I'm in the mood for tacos. And your couch looks like my couch this second.
ReplyDeleteA few things...
ReplyDelete1. My best friend since preschool's last name is Roberts and her family has always had a "taco night" so this made me really nostalgic!
2. We have pizza night (homemade pizza. I refuse to get pizza out anymore).
3. Our couch slipcovers are in the wash. There are Cheerios and unidentifiable objects between the cushions. That is life with a 1 and 3 year old...
Funny how all toddlers do the same thing to couches! It's like a universal rule or somethin. ;-)
ReplyDeleteyour family tacos look amazing! i may have to try the rendition!
