One of the best pieces of advice I received going into marriage,
was "pick your battles"...
{an old saying, suggesting that one should choose their fights wisely; don't expect to win every battle...}
This mantra holds true in my own marriage.
As you all know,
there will be days when you see black, and your significant other sees white.
I have learned to not make scenarios bigger than life.
A good majority of fights,
will blow right over because I have learned to let things go, or GIVE IN.
There will be times when I will "take one for the team" to appease my hubby.
So you can imagine the conversation that went down when my hubby told me his
ONLY birthday wish this year...
to go CAMPING.
You see, I grew up camping...
Tent camping for that matter.
No air mattress,
just sleeping bags, and a tent.
This girl knows how to rough it!
Since becoming a momma though,
my whole perspective on camping has changed.
The work involved was enough sans baby,
let alone with baby in tow.
Being the FABULOUS wife that I am,
I agreed to grant my hubby his ONLY BIRTHDAY WISH.
{I've dreaded this trip since the day it was booked}
Lets just say...
I secretly knew this was going to be a recipe for disaster.
{Fast forward to May 19, 2011}
OUR view
walks on the beach
kisses
s'mores
a gorgeous sunset
After an up all night, {Miss L REFUSED to sleep in a tent}, our 2 night camping adventure quickly got cut short. Yes, Chris and I took one look at each other and said...
"Let's GO HOME".
Lesson learned...
next time dial 1-800 rent a rv
and
I got to say "I told you so"...
Girl, I'm so LMAO - 'I told you so' .... bahahahahaah!
ReplyDeleteYou are better wife than I! BUT what gorgeous pictures! Esp. that sa'more .... :)

hah! we did the same thing when ruby was less than one!! he wanted to go, i was just like you! i dreaded it, but went along. she cried the whole afternoon we got there- we didn't even make it one night! i think it was over a year before we tried again.
ReplyDeletewhere did you guys go? looks like south of you? -emily
HAHAHAHA love this post!! Your little girl is too precious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post! At the moment I'm struggling with learning when to give in or appease the partner, we often see black and the other white. It's good to hear another mother tell a story about appeasing the husband but I am having a good giggle at you being able to say I told you so. Thanks for sharing and lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI was so not expecting that ending after looking at the beautiful pictures. I thought it was going to be a happy ever after camping trip. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteHahaha we just know best!!! You rock girl!
ReplyDeleteHave a super Monday!
hahaha i love when i get to say i told you so! the view looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThe no air mattress part sucks! Over the past 12 years that I have been married I have learned to like camping. I have a camping pantry and cushie air mattresses. We camp in wine country (Napa, Sonoma, Livermore) The booze makes it less painful. We have been taking Aurora (who is now 3) camping since she was 6 months old. Now she tell us that she is going to bed and goes in the tent by herself.
ReplyDeleteAt least you had a gorgeous view :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway I absolutely refuse to go camping and if he asks again I am going to make him read this! :)
haha this is too funny :) "pick your battles" SO true! the view does look beautiful...
ReplyDeleteyou have a lovely family!
LOL girl! I have soooo been there. Except it was my idea and we were in a hotel. Traveling with little ones can be interesting. =) And you are right on about the give and take of a successful marriage!
ReplyDeleteHugs my friend!
Too funny!!! Such a good wife giving it a try though! And you did get some amazing pictures out of it too! :)
