Christmas is in the air

via country living

From pumpkins & spice to trees & pine. It happens overnight.
The stores become lavishly decorated and the hustle and bustle begins. You can just smell it.
We call these common patterns of behavior, tradition.
Its the most wonderful time of year.

As I put the final touches on decorating my home this holiday season, I am trying to pull together a theme through out. I love the traditional red and green but I am also dreaming of silver. Any suggestions on how to decorate with a curious one year old in the house? So far we have had only one shattered ornament. Do you only decorate the top half of your tree?

Lee La La is at Calvary's Holiday boutique in Westlake Village today and Friday from 9-12. Come visit if you are in the LA area!

  1. That is so funny that you mention only decorating the top half of your tree...for Manuel's 1st Christmas (he was 10-11 months) he NEVER messed with the tree! We were SO lucky. Mia, on the other hand, is much more high maintenance than Manuel and in to EVERYTHING, so we actually considered only decorating the top half! :) Against my better judgement we decorated the entire tree, and believe or not, she really doesn't mess with it :)

At least for now, I probably just totally jinxed myself! :)

I'm sure your house is going to look beautiful!

  2. Can't wait to see pictures of your decorations!

I had to decorate my tree weird because of the cat! For 3 years, he's never even acknowledged that it's there, but for some reason, when I was putting it up last night, he was into EVERYTHING! Biting the light and swatting at the ornaments. The tree is next to the couch, and he lays on the back of the couch, so I didn't decorate the side by the couch or the lowest couple of rows of branches so he won't tear stuff up!

  3. I always have decorated the entire tree with the kiddies and amazingly never have had a problem. Always scary though. I love the silver/white look for Christmas. Most of my holidays things are red and green too. Happy day my friend.

  8. New follower - bouffe e bambini sent me! :)

I am contemplating decorating only the top half of my tree as well. I have 2 curious little girls (ages 2 & 3) who I am sure have their own decorating style! Good luck!

    Have a great day!

My daughter just turned one and I decided not to use my glass ornaments which was only about 2 doz, I went out and purchased some shatterproof oranments, they are still very pretty.. I've also put up the sharper (like icsicles and snowflakes) up higher than she can reach.. the bottom portion of our tree has the shatterproof ornaments!

  13. Girl, I had a half decorated tree for two years and am really enjoying being able to decorate the whole thing this time. The twins just wouldn't leave it alone. Oh and now all I buy are plastic ornaments. =)
    HUGS!
